When you’re not towing, it’s nice when the front end looks stock. This base plate disappears behind the bumper thanks to its completely hidden design. The removable arms twist out easily, leaving no bulky brackets sticking forward. Receiver covers plug the openings to keep dirt and debris out, so everything looks clean and stays protected until your next tow.
Connecting your tow bar doesn’t have to be a fight. Each arm slides into the receiver, twists to lock, and secures with a pin—simple and solid. When you’re ready to unhook, pull the pin, twist, and remove. The quick-release design makes it easy to line up and connect even when you’re on uneven ground or working alone.
This setup bolts right to the chassis using included hardware—no welding required. The sturdy steel construction spreads towing forces evenly across the frame to help prevent suspension stress. It’s powder coated for rust and corrosion resistance, so it holds up through years of towing and weather exposure without needing extra touch-ups.
If you already have a tow bar you trust, there’s no need to start over. The sturdy lugs pair directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a reliable connection every time. Prefer another brand? It’s adaptable for use with Roadmaster tow bars using adapter RM-031 or RM-031-5 (sold separately) and Demco tow bars using adapter DM9523041 (sold separately). Built-in mounting points make it easy to add an electrical connector bracket up front to keep your wiring tidy and accessible.
No special tools or fabrication are needed here. The base plate bolts securely in place with the provided mounting hardware, giving you a dependable setup that’s easy to inspect and maintain. Once installed, it blends into the bumper line for a seamless finish that keeps your vehicle’s front end looking sharp when it’s not in tow mode.

The Blue Ox base plate for my 2015 Kia Soul is well manufactured and, with a little bit of mechanical skill, easy to install. It fit perfectly without issues. Brad from etrailer provides a step-by-step installation video that is outstanding and nicely guides through the process from beginning to end. I highly recommend this Blue Ox base plate from etrailer.
Super high quality baseplate for towing by Blue Ox. Instructions, videos, shipping (one day!) and overall experience was awesome. A bit pricey but their quality and the additional support by E Trailer cannot be beat! BTW (E Trailer) the baseplate fits three different Jeep configurations but did not call out the Recon package. After looking at other brands which showed there's to fit the 3 variations AND the Recon, I figured it would fit and it DID. You should definitely upgrade to include the Recon Edition.

We installed the baseplate on our 2023 Encore GX AWD as well as the light harness and breakaway switch. A couple of items were incorrect but Royce corrected the issues with no problems.

2019 Ford Ranger baseplate worked and fitted fine for me. 73 yrs old took me a couple hours but took many breaks. Younger could do it less than hour I'm sure.

The only thing I didn't understand was it only cam with 2 quick connects for the safety cables when it needs 4 even the installation video shows 4 other than that it fit perfect and I installed it myself in about a hour thanks
Installed the Brakeaway System and finally got a chance to use it! It worked flawlessly! I added a pic of the location for my 2023 Jeep Gladiator Mojave. This was after staring into the engine compartment for 2 days so maybe this will help someone to decide?

Just finished installing the base plate, happy with the fit. Had to ream one of the spacers to get bolt to fit. Not a problem.
I think etrailer has amazing products at great prices and the best customer service. I can’t review this particular base plate because I messed up and ordered the wrong one. With the help of the staff at etrailer returning this item was easy and ordering the correct base plate was a breeze.

Product was an open box at a substantial discount, other than the box having previously been opened. It was brand new and in perfect condition.
I bought the BX1133 baseplate made by Blue Ox. I installed it on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler Jk (Freedom Edition, “Oscar Mike”). The install was fairly easy. Saved me money by doing it myself. It’s a really tight fit between the D-rings. Took a while to line up the holes for the bolts. Had to use a rubber mallet to help get the plate set. But once you get it everything else is pretty easy. I have yet to install the safety cables. Looking forward to towing my Jeep behind my RV. Good product hopefully it’s hold up over time.
